Preparation of Cellulose Nanofiber Composite Plastic Foam  with Ultralight and High Insulation performances was selected as one of the research program of the Advanced Low Carbon Technology Research and Development Program (ALCA).  The ALCA was one of the strategic basic research project of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). The purpose of our project is to prepare cellulose nanofiber nanocomposite foams for achieving ultralight weight reduction and high (heat & sound) insulation. By developing the chemical and physical modification techniques to provide cellulose nanofiber (CNF) with  multi performances such as  antioxidant, crystallization, bubble nucleation and catalytic agents, and using the modified CNF as an additive, CNF nanocomposite plastic foams with ultralight and high insulation performances are to be prepared.
